Control is an action-adventure video game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by 505 Games. The game revolves around the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secret U.S. government agency tasked with containing and studying phenomena which violate the laws of reality. As Jesse Faden, the Bureau's new Director, players explore the Oldest House – the FBC's paranormal New York headquarters – and utilize powerful abilities in order to defeat a deadly enemy known only as the Hiss, which has invaded and corrupted reality. Control is played from a third-person perspective, and is built using Remedy's proprietary Northlight Engine
So how is control you gonna ask, Well 🤔 IT'S AWESOME and remedy has once again done a great job on the game. Without further ado, HERE IS MY REVIEW ON “ Control “ BY “ Remedy Games “
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pros:
Story:
Well, here is how the story starts, You play as Jesse faden who ( without spoiling the story ) has been called by someone to come to this strange place called the Oldest House where she finds out that something bad is going on and the building is on lockdown. From there you start to slowly learn what is happening, who are those strange monsters you kill and much much more.
From the start the game gets your attention and you are hooked onto the area and the mystery that is going on in the game and it lasted till the end of the game. Remedy did a great job in telling a story in a way where you are confused from the start but slowly get to understand it. Nowadays games tell a story in a direct way but remedy does it on the other way and I appreciate it. ( that all i can tell about the story because you need to experience and learn by yourself).
Characters:
In the Oldest house you meet a lot of people who like you and are confused on what is going on in this area and to talk to them and learn about their background as well as what they are doing here was really interesting. As that *something* is not affecting you and you have some abilities like no other, they are interested in learning about you as well as helping you to do that thing that you are here for and some of them characters are greatly written as well as animated.

Side missions:
Control has some interesting side-mission that you can play if you choose to. While some of them are repetitive and boring ( i have mention them in the Cons Section ), others feels like should have been a part of the main story-line. One of them ( which i am gonna spoil a little bit of it ) is about a guy who keeps his eyes on a fridge because it has some unknown power where if you look away OR blink, it will kill him and as you try to help him you get into a boss fight which was just great and completely optional
Basically what I am saying is that some of the side-missions in “ Control “ are really good.
Boss fights:
Speaking of boss-fights, Control has some of the interesting boss fights that remedy has made so far. You get plenty of boss fights during the main-story but Side-missions have other great boss fights that you need to play. A great example is again the fridge boss-fight, you are required to use each skill and abilities you learn so far to defeat it.
Graphics:
Control is easily the best looking RTX game there is so far in the market and Remedy best work yet. While sadly i do not have a RTX card so i could have not experienced it, i have seen people playing with RTX on and its beautiful to look at. The reflection you get through marble floor is just eye-catching.
With beautiful graphics, each level looks like was hand-made and constructed really well and each is full of details which random notes on the walls ( which can be read each one ), plenty of tables, chairs and random boxes everywhere with much much more stuff there as well ( SO enjoy throwing everything around with you AWESOME abilities you get :)
📷
The Abilities you get as you play are really good, i am gonna name some as one is where you can pick up stuff and throw around and the other is you can shield yourself against enemy bullets.
Combat:
While the combat in “ Control “ is nothing new or mind-blowing, it's just simply and controlled really well. You have a weapon with automatic reload which you can later change into different foams and you can also add different mods to it. ( NOTE: that there is no cover system in this game BUT you can crouch )
📷
Soundtrack:
Soundtrack in “Control” is pretty good ( though not mind-blowing ) and I enjoyed listening to it. The soundtracks during near the end of the games where the only one i remember the most out of this game
And the best soundtrack you get is in that place where you put the headphones on ( who played it will know what i am talking about ) and that PART WAS GREAT for me while some people said it ruined the experience of the game and i can understand their point but not for me…. GG remedy for that 👍
Dr. Darling:
One special mention of a character you gonna see a lot in “ Control “ is Dr. Darling himself who voiced Alan Wake and he does an outstanding job performing his role in this game. You gonna see him a lot in the videos where he explain the plot of the game slowly. I had to give him a separate sentence cause i believe he deserves it.
P.S: One of the best parts about his videos is in the end of the game which made me laugh and those who finished it would know what i am talking about ( The one in the hotel room, i think you should experience it yourself )
P.S.S: That scene with the Dylan where you talk with him.. It was also done and voice acted really really well and i was on top of my sit in that part

Notes / videos to read:
Speaking of Dr. Darling and his videos, this game has a lot of notes to read and videos to watch in each level section of this small-open-building you explore and they are an important part of the game because I believe without looking for them you get lost in this game and will not understand the mystery in this building and the story. This was the first game after i do not know how long that I loved reading each and every note I found as well as watch the Dr. Darling videos. That part was done really well by Remedy.
( ALSO that Threshold Kids show this game has…. Yeah, it was creepy as hell and awesome at the same time )
You also get a 3 time rule in this game and that was really good by remedy to do that.
Cons:
* SPOILER WARNING: The following negative about this game contains ” MAIN SPOILER “ of the game so if you have not finished it up yet OR have plans to play it yourself than skip this point and move to the other one down below 👍 *
Unanswered questions:
When the game ended, there were a lot of questions that were just like left out and maybe planned for DLC’s but it was disappointing to not see a true ending with everything explained at the end…. Like what is the history of this oldest house, how did jesse got the message to come to this place, what happened to Dr. Darling and what is happening to Dylan after he went to coma and the janitor, where did he go, who was he and what was that empty space where you get his headphones from ( what is the story of that place )….. Many questions sadly were left unanswered for me.
( NOW! Maybe a lot of questions were answered but i did not noticed but I believe they were not and many people who played it says the same )
----------------------------------------------------------------
Inventory / weapon mods / crafting :
The Inventory system in “ Control “ is a mess to use. You can make modes based on rarity ( uncommon, common, rare and so on ) while its a random mod so you can not choose which one you wanna get. Also rarity does not mean anything as you will get the same mod you already have but just slightly better. Managing mods is also a mess as you play through the game they are not arranged together but are completely random so you will have like 50 mods and 40 will mostly be uncommon and Dismantling one mode takes about a second which is a mess. Other huge issue i had with the menu is that while as i have mentioned already there are a lot of notes to read while exploring, Now it is marked for you in the menu as unread BUT if you even accidentally mouse over them than they are marked as read and you don't even know what note it was which was a mess to deal with.
Inventory can be fixed in a patch if Remedy wants to BUT so far there is no fix for it
📷
Weapon selection:
The weapon selection menu was also a mess. Well this game has only one weapon you play the whole game with called “ Service Weapon “ BUT it can be turned into different foams like a shatter which is your service weapon turns into a shotgun and there are total of 5 foams you can get and make in this game BUT the part that sucks is that you can only equip 2 foams which can be switched by a button BUT to use other you will have to go to the menu and select other one to equip which kind of made me sad that you can not just switch between all foams with a button. I just wished it would not had to be going to menu to select one to equip :( .

Some side missions were repetitive:
While some side-quests in “ Control “ were pretty good and interesting, others were just boring to do OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Like that one pissed off person you meet in a basement where they ask you to collect some fungus for their experiment… OK SURE! I said when i first started it but when you do it and return back and get your reward guess what they ask again…… COLLECT MORE FUNGUS………… No thanks! I would rather do a main story than farm for you 👍.
Does not run great on consoles:
This game sadly has the issue that many developers might make while making a game, I believe that “ Control “ was FIRSTLY made for PC so they can show its beauty in demos and reveals and that later was downscaled to be able to run in consoles which it does not, There are reports on heavy FPS drop during heavy fights which is a bummer. So i recommend getting it on PC cause it runs well and looks a lot better with RTX on them ( cause consoles does not have RTX yet on them )
The grain effect is a blemish on the graphics:
There is this effect of a grain that simply can't be turned down in setting which made graphics look blemish as well as make a lot of people motion sick ( NO! Its not motion blur cause that can be turn down but not the grain effect ). It really affected my playthrough of the game at the start but luckily a little bit of modding i was able to stop it by a press of a button 👍
The 3rd part of the game:
The game starts off very strong with you thinking “ WHAT IS GOING ON “ all the time and it goes and continues really well until you get to the last 3rd part of the game where it just got slowed down by a lot and nothing interesting happening and you knowing that what is gonna happen and how it will end. Now i am not saying it was boring… NO but what i am saying is that the 3rd part of the game was not as good as the start and middle of the game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FINAL VERDICT:
8 / 10 ( Excellent )
( MUST TO BUY )
