---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter video game developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver. It is the third installment in the Metro video game series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels. It follows the events of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter game with survival horror and stealth elements. Set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the former Russian Federation, the player must cope with the new hazards and engage in combat against mutated creatures as well as hostile humans. The player wields an arsenal of hand-made weaponry which can be customized through scavenging materials and a crafting system. The game features a mixture of linear levels and sandbox environments. It also includes a dynamic weather system, a day-night cycle, and environments that change along with the seasons as the story progresses. It is set over the course of one whole in-game year.

I have always been a huge fan of Dmitry Glukhovsky's “ Metro “ Novels and than when a game was made on it, i felt in love with them and now after 6 years we got a 3 installment on the Metro game and……….. THIS GAME IS AWESOME, IT'S FANTASTIC THAN AWESOME, Lets not waste any time and get into the review, Here is my Thoughts / Review on “ Metro: Exodus “:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros:

+ Story:

Metro Exodus story continues right after Last light. Artyom has a dream, dream where they could live outside those darkly, creepy metros and he believes that there are people still alive in the surface and that's where they story starts. The way they get to know that there is indeed life outside metro and starts their adventure to find a home is what a great story ‘ Metro: Exodus ‘ has to offer. The adventure is how they get out, what happens during their adventure which twist and turns all around makes it the best story “ Metro franchise “ has as of now and i could not talk much more of it as i HIGHLY RECOMMEND to play it yourself to found out as it deserves to be played non-spoiled.

+ Semi Open-World:

Metro: Exodus took a bold move to leave the liner story and make it open-world for the players and while many might hate that move ( I don’t and love it ). I loved walking around the map and get to explore points of interest it had to offer ( And Obviously had to do it for my 100% run ) and it's worth it. With the difficulty as Ranger-Hardcore ammo is rare and you have to count your bullets as well as explore to find more and these points had many to offer with many more important upgrades you can get only by exploring the map ( not main-mission ) like Night-vision goggles or attachments for your weapons and there are many optional side-quests where a good reward is given to you and you get to know more about the world and the characters you meet and that made the open-world move worth it. I am simply thankful for 4A Games for taking this bold move and doing it the right way.

+ Aurora:

The best parts of the story are found in chapters between the action where you simply hang out aboard the Aurora, the train that functions as headquarters. Here you have the chance to tune the radio to eavesdrop on transmissions that play off of in-game events or listen to some sweet tunes as well as get to know more about your crew.

📷

+ Characters:

The Characters in “ Metro: Exodus “ are so perfectly voice-acted and well written that you will love those who are made specifically to be loved and hate those who are made to be hated by the developers, You get to know more about your crew at your HQ named Aurora. Its a train where you travel between jumping to another chapter and here it's your opportunity to unravel the endearing personalities that make up your crew. These characters are brought to life with an impressive amount of dialogue they say that seems to go on forever, but because the moments of levity have a degree of charm and earnestness, it made me want to stay and listen.

+ Metro-Touch is there:

Even if this game make it a open-world to explore, 4A Games knew that they could not leave the metro liner style out of it as Last-Light and 2033 was unique for that and i am thankful for that decision that they did not made it open-world only. There are missions in between the chapters which are carefully laid out where you get to experience that moments you had in previous games ( Especially the 3rd and final chapter. )

+ “ The Ending Experience( Non-spoiler ):

Let me talk about the experience i had during the end of “ Metro: Exodus “ ( NO SPOILER ), The ending was something else, The way the game thinks you one way and than BOOM! Something else happens made me tear up like a small baby at the end, And this is my quote i always believe in “ If a game makes you cry, it's more than a game and is something else” and this one was definitely something else. You should definitely finish the game if you have started

+ Be Good or be Bad, Your choice:

Metro: Exodus makes the return of hidden morality system from Last light and 2033 and your choices will matter and explicitly does not revealing itself, Many choices are given to you during the main-story and if orders to do it that way and you don’t, than it has huge impact on the storyline while others choices can be done during optional side-quests which will increase the chance to get a good ending at the end cause if you don’t than bad ending awaits you and while i did got the good ending, i thought that the bad ending will simply change some dialogue here and there BUT NO! It was a completely different redesigned ending and i loved that touched by the developers. Basically what i meant here is that your choices matters in “ Metro: Exodus “ and it will have an impact in your storyline and you will get either the Good OR Bad ending based on it.

+ Weapon Customization / Combat:

Workbenches and your backpack are now your saving graces in Metro Exodus, since there are no longer any shops to buy equipment and items. Gone is the awful system of trading in military-grade bullets for critical items; in its place is a crafting system that's both manageable and fitting for the survivalist mentality Exodus instills. You'll accumulate scrap metal and chemicals to craft medkits, filters, and ammo, and maintain weapon condition. Even when you're juggling systems such as keeping your flashlight charged and changing out gas mask filters, You find new weapons by killing enemies and looting them where you can separate attachments from them ( Great example can be given as if you have a silenced revolver and are going to clear a base silently but things get out-of-hand and at that moment you can change that same revolver into a sniper-rifle with adding scope and other attachments without going back to base or pausing the game ) and it never becomes overbearing and adds an enjoyable challenge of gear management even as you're fending off foes throughout.

+ Graphics:

This game LOOKS BEAUTIFUL, i mean when looking at this game when RTX is on ( i don't have RTX card yet so i played on just simply HIGH ) I thought “ WOW! How games graphics has come a long way “, I used to just stop at moments on top of a roof and for at least 2 minutes take in the beautiful environment before continuing my adventure. This game graphics is something else indeed.

📷

+ Soundtrack:

OH THE SOUNDTRACK IN “ METRO:EXODUS “ is my best favourite soundtrack of 2019 as of now, It gets intense when you are in combat or creepy tunnels and gets peaceful when exploring around and just staying at your home to reload your weapons and craft stuff. My favorite soundtrack in Metro:Exodus is the “ Race Against Fate

And “ Dawn of Hope “ but i would recommend to play the game to experience it than just youtube it

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cons:

- Somewhat Bad Animation:

While the game looks beautiful with RTX been on and people will now definitely use this game than they used in “ Last Light “ to benchmark their computers, wither it was my computer or its a game issue but i had some bad lip-syncing as well as body animation of the characters.

- Point of Interest part that i did not liked:

When i was doing my 100% run as to find all notes, all postcards as well as clear all the map i found one thing in particular annoying and it was those point of interest thing. In the open-map, you can go to the high play and use your binoculars to mark areas ( “?” would Appear in the map ). Those “?” would be of 2 types ( Enemy base / Place to sleep or monster nest ) and while i loved silently clearing out enemy bases to get a epic reward in it. I HATED THE MONSTER NEST places are they were a open place of monsters walking around and all you had to do is to loot a body and run away and it would get checked marked on our map. I did not enjoyed that and think the developers should have either added something else to explore than those monster nest places.

- Boss Fights:

Now this is not a big con that i hated or gonna reduce my score for it BUT i think boss fights could have used some work and let my explain why. So now i am playing this game on Ranger-Hardcore difficulty and in this difficulty the ammo, grenades is rare. There would happen to have some sections of the game where after you silently get through a place and after an story event you are left in a small room with one big enemy using a machine gun to kill you and you had to just waste all the remaining ammo on him. Now YES! You can find more ammo by exploring but if there is a gamer who plays this difficulty only to run on story missions than exploring. He would be in big trouble and i feel like boss fights areas should have been changed to be little bit open and you had a chose to do it silently ( either silently get him or escape ). A lot of you might not agree with me but its my Opinion soo…. We all are different ( Thankfully there are not a lot of boss fights in “ Metro:Exodus

- Technical issues:

It's worth noting that there were many technical issues i faced throughout Metro Exodus. In one chapter, i knocked someone out and that that same time the game saved so i got stuck on not showing up my weapons and even i restarted the game many time and did lot of stuff, i hard broke the game and had to restart the chapter ( thankfully i was at the start of it so i did not waste much of a time ) and started the make a backup save each hour. There is also noticeable framerate drops at modest settings i noted ( might be my old 980M graphic card ). I also can't speak about PS4 or Xbox One Version as i have not played there.

- Epic-Store Exclusivity:

I am not gonna talk about too much of this game 1 year “ Epic-Exclusivity “, Yes it sucks that they ( Deep Silver ) made this awful decision. The exclusivity will make 4A games less money, will get less Consumers but i pre-ordered it on Steam so i did not face that issue. I am not gonna talk about it and all i am gonna say that YES! Exclusivity sucks and I HATE IT………… thats all

( Little-Bit Spoiler ALERT!!!! )

- No Dark Once:

Now again, not a huge issue or something i hate a most and will reduce score of it ( No i will not ) but the first 2 metros game had “ The Dark Once “ in it and i loved them in the storyline, but they are nowhere to be seen here in “ Metro: Exodus ” as they are here only in 2 easter eggs on them ( TV and the Building ) and theory about them helping you at the final chapter might be true but i miss them here, The Developers might have specifically left them for the next Metro Game and if that is the case than i am fine with that as they can play a huge part after Exodus ending.

\------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------/

FINAL VERDICT:

9 / 10 ( Fantastic )

( A DEFINITELY MUST-TO-BUY )

📷

I was so close to give “ Metro: Exodus “ a solid 10/10 ( Masterpiece ) cause of outstanding story and characters but i think i should be fair and square and give a the closest score i can give which is a 9 ( would have been 9.5 but i can't do that as per my own rule ).

Metro: Exodus for me show what a true FPS hardcore game it is and this game was HARD on its “ Ranger-Hardcore “ difficulty. It's a perfect sequel to “ Last Light “ and the best in its franchise as of now, Metro: Exodus offers Fantastic story, fantastic characters and its development as well as solid combat with crafting, good open-world to explore and much more. I definitely recommend you buy it if you love the metro and wanna experience a HARDCORE FPS game. This game is easily my GOTY as of now for 2019
