“ Resident Evil 3: Remake “ ( PC )
( Abrupt Action )
( Non-Spoiler )
Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Time played: 6 hours and 31 Minutes
Difficulty: Hardcore
Resident Evil 3 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) and follows Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira as they attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse while hunted by the intelligent bioweapon Nemesis. It has an online multiplayer mode also called Resident Evil: Resistance.
When RE2: Remake was announced I was excited for it cause I always wanted to see why people said that Resident Evil is one of the good scary games there are and when I finished it, I really enjoyed it cause it was such a good remake of the original and than RE3: Remake was announced which I was again very excited about the cause of HOW GOOD RE2: Remake was and what are my thoughts on RE3: Remake….. Well, I am disappointed with it. Here is my Review on “ Resident Evil 3: Remake “ played on PC.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pros:
+ Great Opening:
Resident Evil 3: Remake opening is a really good one, we quickly get introduced to our 1 of 2 main characters in this game ( Jill Valentine ). The game starts in the First-person view and tells us why Jill is still hanging out in Raccoon City and establishes on her mental state where she is in the dark place and she has Trust issues following the events of the first Resident Evil game and then everything goes to shit as the city is infected with T-virus and everyone is turning into zombies while a more powerful Tyrant comes knocking the walls off to kill Jill and he is called “ Nemesis “ as she tries to run from that.
A really good and strong start to this game IMO.
+ A Good Storyline:
With a great opening comes a really good storyline… without spoiling the main events that happen in this game, here is a short summary of the game. You play as 2 main characters in this game ( Jill and Carlos ) where Jill is trying to escape from Nemesis and to find out why he is after her while Carlos is trying to find a scientist which might have created a vaccine for this T-virus which is making people turn into Zombies.
In 2020 standards this story might not sound that mind-blowing or amazing but remember that this game is from 1999 so in 1999 having this kind of story was pretty decent. Is it better than the RE2 story… No, but it’s decent at best and I enjoyed it even tho I knew what is coming or what is about to happen.

+ Power station bug section was Amazing:
With the story I just described, there is one scene where you need to get the power back up so the trains can start moving again and you can all escape this city is this Power station bug section which was horrible/disgusting looking and an amazing section of this game which I had to give a separate mention.
Why it is so good? It causes the bugs which roam that place are disgusting and by disgusting I mean they put their *things* into the mouth of the Jill and then she vomits and that was just awful to look at ( made me wanna puke times to times ) and the way I did was just to waste as much ammo as I can while to power up the generators…. That was the only memorable section that I remember really well from this game and I liked it A LOT

+ Graphics / Visuals is beautiful:
The best part for me in Resident Evil 3: Remake was how beautiful it looked. RE3 possesses an incredible amount of level details for the Raccoon city and the action scenes as well. RE-Engine-powered visuals is astonishingly beautiful to look at and the game looks so detailed. Every character in it looked amazing to almost feeling like real, Jill and Carlos as well are very well designed and looks amazing as well as also the Nemesis itself looked scary and amazing as well. This fantastic visual and immersive atmosphere makes exploring Raccoon City a treat for longtime fans of this series.

+ More action/shooter of a game than RE2:
Resident Evil 3 was apparently meant to be a DLC to Resident Evil 2 but then turned into its own of a game and this game indeed shows why for many reasons but one that shows it causes its based more on shooting and been actiony compare to how RE2 was which is more horror and more story-based. The combat in RE3: Remake was not something new or amazing but it was decent that I can give it a pass for it. I liked it and those action scenes looked amazing with that RE-Engine.
+ Dodge Mechanic / Karate-Kick mechanic is very good:
Jill and Carlos are now very skillfully and can dodge around enemies. On Jill, Hit the button at just the right moment and you’ll pull off a “perfect dodge,” which rewards you with a couple of seconds of slow-motion that can be used to pop off a few precision headshots. Master the perfect dodge and you’ll be able to make RE3’s zombies look dumber than they already are. On Carlos tho, it is a bit different, Hit the button at just a right moment and Carlos will do like a karate kick on the zombie which will push him away from you.
I honestly liked that new mechanic and it saved me from death many times throughout this game.

Cons:
- Too Linear / Scripted:
The Biggest difference between RE2 and RE3 remakes are of how Linear and scripted this one was compared to RE2. In RE2, you can explore the building completely freely and find secrets than you can unlock as you play more and Mr.X was freely roaming around the building ready to jumpscare you at any moment BUT in RE3 does the complete opposite of it. It’s Linear this time, You are free to explore somewhat parts in the game but the locations are very small compare to RE2, Nemesis scenes are completely scripted ( except one part in the game ) and happens when the game wants it to happen than Mr. X been completely random and he always walks in the building so you do not know where he could be and how he can scare you. I personally hope the next remake they do not make it linear as they did here.
- TOO SHORT:
The biggest issue I had with this game is how short it was… It took me 3 days / 6 hours to complete it and it was WAY TOO short compare to Resident Evil 2: Remake ( that game took me 10 hours to beat ) and I were sad when it ended too soon. I just wish it was longer by not doing...
- Removed locations:
… and by not doing I mean by that this remake removes some of the cool and amazing sections that the original game had. Clock Tower is completely gone which was an important part of the original game, The graveyard, park, and factory are also among content that was completely removed from the game and I feel like if those parts were in the remake than this game would have been longer and it would have been not that short. I HATED THAT.
- Weak boss fights:
The only boss fights I remember were all against the Nemesis and all of them ( except the first one ) was bad and by bad, I do not mean awful but I did not enjoy it at all. Why I hate them? Well, it causes its that you have to do the same thing OVER AND OVER again to get to that final cutscene where you finally have beaten him. Many boss fights can be summarised by this… shoot his back, shoot his body part, shoot that object, and so on. I just did not like it and more power to you, if you did, liked it.

- Bullet Sponge Enemies:
One another thing I absolutely did not like about the game is how Bullet Sponge the enemies were on the hardcore difficulty ( and maybe on lower difficulty as well ). What I mean by it is that you shoot a zombie on his head like 10 times to get them down and then still they are alive and you have to shoot 5 times more to confirmed it died, and I am talking about it all been critical hits ( when the circle in the middle of the screen closes completely ) and I absolutely did not like it. I feel like it should be at max 5 headshots shots to kill a zombie than wasting a lot of ammo and then wasting more when they are down.
The same applies to those Nemesis boss fights. He just takes those bullets hits like they are nothing and I personally did not like how to sponge the enemies are in this game, not a big fan of it.
- No Multiple Endings / Choices:
The Original RE3 had multiple endings to it with you making some important choices throughout your playthrough of the game… This made the game more interesting to play as well as made you wanna replay the game to see what the other choices do to impact your run BUT in RE3: Remake, that all is simply gone…. No multiple ending like the original had and no choices you need to make to differ your playthrough. Now you all get the same ending with the same result and that is a bummer.
- No replayability valve:
With no Multiple Ending and choices returning to this remake, this remake has IMO a 0 replayability valve to it at all. When I finished it, I simply did not want to replay it cause I knew that the ending and almost everything will be the same. This does not mean that those who are looking to 100% this game and get that 100% completion achievement would not enjoy it replaying it multiple times and more power to them for doing that BUT I am not that kind of guy so I did not find any replayability valve in RE3: Remake
- No backtracking compare to RE2:
One another thing that pissed me off is of having very little backtracking in RE3: Remake cause here if you miss something and go-ahead with your main storyline then you would not be able to get it to cause of no backtracking. Don’t get me wrong, there are sections of the game where you can go back to get the stuff that you missed but it is way too less compared to RE2: Remake cause you can explore and backtrack a little bit in RE3: Remake but it never gets as elaborate as last year’s effort.
- Lip-Sync Issues:
The Lip syncing was a bit off when I noticed it and it looked like they either forgot to lip-sync the English language OR they messed up completely. The way the words are said and the way the characters moved their month was completely different and I watching those beautiful looking cut scenes in the game a bit of a pain to watch due to it. I rarely notice the lip-syncing in video games but this one was just right there and there... You can easily see that the words they speak and the way the month moves were completely different so i hope they patch it soon
- Absence of puzzles was another thing missing from RE3: Remake cause in last one, You had many puzzles to solve to get some cool loot but here I can not even remember one puzzle been present here and that sucks cause RE2: Remake puzzles were great
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Verdict:
6/10
( Above Average )
( Wait for Sale )

Resident Evil 3: Remake was a big disappointment for me and while the score I gave might seem a bit harsh and many of you might think that I should give this game at least 1 more point than I gave it, I just can’t give it cause of how disappointed I was on it. Do not get me wrong, Resident Evil 3: Remake IS NOT A AWFUL GAME cause it has a decent storyline, New Mechanic were nice, it’s more shooter than the last one and the Graphics just looks amazing and I mean its more Resident Evil which I am absolutely fine with it. Its that I and not only me but many of us were hoping it to be the same level as Resident Evil 2: Remake and sadly it was not… Nemesis is clearly more badass than Mr. X from the original but here it goes completely opposite and feels like makes Nemesis is a normal zombie than how Mr. X was a constant threat in RE2: Remake. I feel like not only that BUT many stuff went completely opposite than RE2 and that was a bummer.
I highly recommend waiting for a sale on this game to get it than get it now BUT if you still wanna buy it cause you feel like you can spend a huge amount of time and love Resident Evil that much then it is available to get on Steam, Playstation Store and on Xbox for $59.99
See you all in Final Fantasy 7: Remake Review 👍
